Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a telephone conversation with his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, where Malaysia expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in regional peace and stability efforts. The leaders exchanged greetings and discussed ongoing peace initiatives in the region.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the conversation, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and conveyed his special regards for former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. The Malaysian leader also extended his best wishes to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, recognizing Pakistan’s peace efforts as harmonious with the ideology of Quaid-e-Azam.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked Anwar Ibrahim for Malaysia’s support and briefed him on the recent developments in peace initiatives. He emphasized the crucial contributions of brotherly countries, including Malaysia, and highlighted the diplomatic efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in advancing the peace process.
Both leaders expressed concern over the ongoing violence in Lebanon and the situation in Gaza. They agreed to maintain close contact regarding regional developments and expressed the desire to meet at the earliest opportunity, whether in Islamabad, Kuala Lumpur, or on the sidelines of an international event.
