Islamabad: A recent survey conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan has revealed that a significant majority of Pakistanis, 80%, have never traveled by airplane. In contrast, only 15% of the population has experienced air travel. The survey highlights that individuals aged 50 and above are more likely to have traveled by air, with 42% reporting such experience, compared to just 11% of those aged 30-50 and 8% of those under 30.

According to Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, the survey questioned a nationally representative sample of adult Pakistanis, asking them whether they had ever traveled by airplane. The results underscore that air travel remains a relatively uncommon mode of transportation in the country, with a mere 15% of respondents indicating any experience of flying. The survey also pointed out significant age-related disparities, with older respondents far more likely to have flown than their younger counterparts.

The study was executed by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, the local affiliate of Gallup International, with a sample size of 811 married individuals from both urban and rural areas across all four provinces of Pakistan. Conducted between March 18 and March 31, 2026, the survey employed telephonic interviews (CATI) and maintains an error margin of approximately ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level. The findings offer insight into the limited prevalence of air travel within Pakistan, particularly among younger demographics.
