Limited Awareness of PIA Share Sale Among Pakistanis, Survey Finds

ISLAMABAD: A recent survey indicates that only 29% of Pakistanis are aware of the sale of 75% shares in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Awareness is higher in urban areas and among individuals with higher educational qualifications.

According to Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, a survey conducted among a nationally representative sample reveals that a significant majority, 69%, of the population remains unaware of this major economic development. The survey involved 780 respondents from various urban and rural regions across the country.

The findings highlight a disparity in awareness levels, with urban areas reporting 38% awareness and individuals with education at or above the FA level showing a 57% awareness rate. The survey was conducted over a period from January 15 to February 3, 2026, using telephonic surveys, and carries an error margin of ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level.
