Law Minister Lauds Lawyers’ Support for Probe into Islamabad High Court Judges’ Allegations

Islamabad, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has commended the backing of various lawyers’ organizations across Pakistan for the initiation of an inquiry commission led by former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Tassaduq Hussain Jillani. This commission is tasked with investigating concerns highlighted in a letter by judges of the Islamabad High Court to the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Law Minister praised the support from the Pakistan Bar Council and the Supreme Court Bar Association, noting it as a reflection of their commitment to the judiciary’s independence and impartiality. The endorsement by these organizations, he remarked, underscores the legal community’s seriousness towards ensuring a fair and transparent judicial process.

Furthermore, Tarar acknowledged the confidence placed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, Punjab Bar Council, Islamabad Bar Council, Peshawar High Court Bar, Abbottabad High Court Bar, Lahore Bar Association, Multan High Court Bar, and Bahawalpur High Court Bar in the formation of the inquiry commission and the appointment of Tassaduq Hussain Jillani as its head. He described this collective support as a positive development towards addressing the issues raised by the Islamabad High Court judges.

This widespread backing from the legal community not only reinforces the significance of the inquiry commission’s mission but also highlights the trust in Jillani’s leadership to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the matters at hand.
