Lahore Implements Ramadan Relief Measures to Lower Essential Commodity Prices

Lahore, In a concerted effort to ease the financial burden on its citizens during Ramadan, the Punjab government has successfully implemented a relief package that has seen a decrease in the prices of essential commodities. This was revealed during a meeting of the ministerial committee overseeing the Ramadan relief package, chaired by Provincial Food Minister Bilal Yasin at the Civil Secretariat. The meeting focused on reviewing the availability, pricing, and monitoring of essential items during the holy month.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Minister Yasin highlighted the significant price reductions achieved for onions, potatoes, and tomatoes through improved supply chains as a direct result of governmental initiatives. These efforts have provided considerable relief to the public, demonstrating the government’s commitment to ensuring affordability of basic necessities during this period. Yasin emphasized the importance of continuing these efforts beyond Ramadan to prevent price inflation and to ensure the well-being of the populace.

Further directives were issued by Minister Yasin to prepare a plan aimed at curbing inflation in the concluding days of Ramadan and throughout the Eid festivities. Special attention is to be given to the supply and pricing of essential commodities to maintain their availability at fair prices. Additionally, Provincial Agriculture Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani contributed to the discussion by noting the success of agricultural fair price shops in offering daily benefits to thousands of consumers. These shops are set to continue operating until the 27th day of Ramadan, providing a sustainable model for accessible food distribution.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to manage food prices and enhance food security in Punjab, reflecting the government’s proactive approach to addressing economic challenges and supporting its citizens during significant religious observances.
