KPDCL Warns of Accelerated Disconnection Drives for Unpaid Bills

Srinagar, In a significant move to address the issue of outstanding electricity dues, the Managing Director of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Mussarat Islam, has issued a stern warning to consumers. He emphasized the need for clearing their pending electricity bills, cautioning that failure to do so would compel KPDCL to intensify its disconnection drives.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mussarat Islam specifically pointed out that consumers using smart meters are at risk of automatic disconnection if their arrears remain unpaid. This statement underscores the seriousness with which KPDCL is approaching the issue of unpaid dues and its readiness to enforce strict measures to ensure compliance.

The Managing Director expressed deep concern over the substantial default figures across various customer categories, including domestic, commercial, and industrial sectors. He emphasized that the revenue generated from the clearance of these pending bills is crucial for KPDCL. The financial health of the organization, he noted, directly impacts its ability to purchase power, which is vital for maintaining a reliable electricity supply for its customers. This move by KPDCL is seen as a necessary step to ensure its operational sustainability and the consistent delivery of services to its consumers.
