Islamabad: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has declared that the KP Police Act, 2026, recently approved by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet, violates the Constitution of Pakistan and existing regulations for the Police Service of Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, during a news conference in Islamabad, Chaudhry articulated concerns that the proposed legislation, set to be introduced in the provincial assembly, could disrupt the command structure of the police. He noted that while the founding chairman of PTI advocated for depoliticizing institutions, the new law appears to aim at politicizing the police in the province.

Chaudhry further stated that provinces lack the authority to independently amend the rules governing the Police Service of Pakistan. He expressed disappointment over the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s lack of investment in modernizing the police force.

In response to inquiries about the PTI’s long march, the Minister assured that all routes to the federal capital remain accessible. He emphasized that any actions would adhere to the Islamabad High Court’s ruling to ensure public safety and property protection.
