Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Condemns Federal Government’s Handling of Power Theft Accusations and Addresses Political Concerns

Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur strongly condemned the federal government’s approach to dealing with electricity theft in the province, stating that he would not tolerate derogatory comments about the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a press conference at Chief Minister House Peshawar, Gandapur criticized the federal government for issuing letters to curb electricity theft while WAPDA filed FIRs against local residents, leading to unnecessary harassment.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized that if the federal government is serious about addressing electricity issues in the province, they should engage in constructive discussions. He offered to take responsibility for any electricity losses and suggested deducting these losses from the 1510 billion rupees arrears owed by the federal government to the province. Gandapur remarked that calling the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa thieves is an insult to their sacrifices for the country, adding that the province is prepared to stop illegal electricity activities but will not tolerate any form of bullying.

During the press conference, Gandapur also discussed recent by-elections and criticized the low voter turnout in Punjab, indicating that the by-elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were fair and transparent, with no government interference. He congratulated the winners of these elections and highlighted that the provincial government’s non-interference aligns with the vision of Imran Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Regarding the Senate elections, the Chief Minister expressed concerns about the incomplete Senate due to the delay in elections in one province. He also criticized the allocation of reserved seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to other parties, labeling it unconstitutional and fraudulent. Gandapur announced that they would challenge the decision in the Supreme Court, stating that the Chief Election Commissioner and those notified on certain seats were engaging in illegal activity.

The Chief Minister’s strong statements reflect a robust stance on provincial rights and a commitment to addressing the issues affecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s people, particularly in relation to electricity and the political landscape.
