Srinagar: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the globe are observing Accession to Pakistan Day, reaffirming their commitment to the struggle for liberation from Indian control and advocating for the realization of the resolution passed on July 19, 1947, for Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan.
According to Kashmir Media Service, on July 19, 1947, representatives of the Kashmiris unanimously approved the Accession to Pakistan resolution at a meeting of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference held at the residence of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan in the AabiGuzar area of Srinagar. This resolution sought the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan.
Hurriyat organizations, in their statements for the occasion, have called on the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to safeguard the Kashmiri people from Indian state actions and to play a decisive role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with pertinent UN resolutions.
