Karachi Mayor Criticizes Jamaat-e-Islami’s Propaganda Amidst City Developments

Karachi: Amid ongoing development projects, Karachi Mayor has publicly criticized Jamaat-e-Islami for engaging in what he describes as negative propaganda against the city’s progress. The Mayor lauded the efforts that have been put into enhancing the city’s infrastructure and public services under the guidance of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, which include major updates to Karachi’s sewerage system and the rehabilitation of numerous roads.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Karachi highlighted the extensive development efforts, including the updating of the sewerage network with World Bank support, establishing 29 chlorination centers to provide clean water, and the rehabilitation of 106 roads at a cost of 2 billion rupees. Additionally, he pointed to the ongoing work on significant transport projects like the Malir Expressway and new initiatives such as the Safe City project to bolster security. Further developments include a 13 billion rupee project to construct a new canal from Hub Dam, aimed at addressing the city’s water shortage, and the maintenance of the city’s bridges and underpasses.

The Mayor’s statements reflect his commitment to continual public service despite criticism and emphasize the need for political cooperation to address and resolve the challenges facing Karachi’s residents.
