KARACHI: An important decision to construct a new block and expand medical facilities at the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases (KIKD) was made during a recent meeting chaired by Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab. The meeting focused on upgrading the institute’s services and establishing satellite centers to provide accessible care for kidney patients throughout the city.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases will undergo significant upgrades to meet modern healthcare standards. The expansion plans include setting up additional centers in various locations, allowing patients to receive quality treatment closer to their homes. Mayor Wahab emphasized the importance of providing top-tier healthcare facilities and announced his personal donation of a modern dialysis machine and a Reverse Osmosis water treatment plant to the institute.

The Mayor instructed Dr. Babar Khan, Senior Director Medical Services, to promptly identify a suitable site for the new block and expedite the construction process to ensure enhanced healthcare services are available without delay. He highlighted the continuous improvements in Karachi’s infrastructure and healthcare institutions under the Pakistan Peoples Party’s city government, noting the national reach and reputation of the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases.

The meeting saw participation from Dr. Khurram Daniyal, Head of Department at KIKD, Akhlaq Ahmed Yousafzai, Senior Director Coordination, Dr. Babar Khan, and other relevant officials.
