Karachi Delegation Visits Lahore to Enhance Water and Sewerage Services

Karachi: A high-level delegation from the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), led by Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, paid a visit to the WASA Lahore Head Office to foster cooperation and exchange experiences between Karachi and Lahore’s water and sewerage institutions. The visit aimed to improve civic services in Karachi by learning from Lahore’s successful models and experiences in water supply and sewerage management.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the delegation was received by Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yaseen, Chairman Punjab WASA Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan, Vice Chairman WASA Chaudhry Shehbaz Ahmed, and Managing Director WASA Ghufran Ahmed. The KWSC delegation included key officials such as Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali Siddiqui and Chief Operating Officer Asadullah Khan.

Mayor Wahab emphasized the importance of modern governance, effective technology use, and institutional coordination to tackle water supply and sewerage challenges in major cities. He expressed hope that Karachi could enhance its systems by adopting Lahore’s successful practices. The delegation will receive briefings on water supply, sewerage systems, and the use of modern technology, along with visits to various field operations and drainage systems.

Mayor Wahab highlighted the necessity of modern reforms in Karachi to ensure equitable water distribution and address sewerage issues. He reaffirmed commitment to transforming the KWSC into a modern, self-sustaining institution, with plans to develop a practical strategy based on insights gained during the visit. The strategy will focus on improving water supply, drainage, and revenue systems while promoting technology and transparency to provide better services to citizens.
