Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab outlined his administration’s commitment to honor the sacred month of Rabi’ al-Awwal, a period marking the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In his address at a meeting in Bagh-e-Ibn Qasim, Clifton, the Mayor emphasized the city’s efforts to resolve municipal issues prior to the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal. Among those in attendance were key city officials and a broad representation of scholars and procession organizers.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab expressed that organizing Rabi-ul-Awwal events is not just a duty but a privilege. He detailed plans to enhance the city’s infrastructure and sanitation services before the major celebrations of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), aiming for optimal arrangements through consultations with scholars. A notable gathering is also scheduled at Bagh-e-Ibn Qasim, promising participation from scholars and citizens across various sects.

Throughout the meeting, scholars presented several pressing municipal issues such as road repairs and security concerns. Mayor Wahab acknowledged these challenges and pledged to take significant steps to address them. He highlighted recent improvements in managing the city’s roadways after heavy rains and assured further discussions with K-Electric to prevent power outages during the upcoming religious events. The meeting concluded on a note of gratitude from the scholars and requests from procession organizers for increased security measures.
