K-Electric to Supply 40 MW to National Steel Complex, New Projects Underway in Sindh

Karachi: In a significant development for Sindh’s energy sector, K-Electric will supply 40 megawatts of electricity to the National Steel Complex (NSC) through a newly constructed 132 KV transmission line. This announcement was made by Provincial Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah during a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony involving Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company (STDC), K-Electric, and NSCL.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Sindh, the agreement was signed at the Sindh Energy Department, with Minister of Local Government Saeed Ghani also present. The project will see the construction of a new transmission line from K-Electric’s Pipri Grid Station to NSCL at Port Qasim, Karachi. This initiative is expected to bolster confidence among private investors in the capabilities of STDC and the Sindh Department of Energy to develop projects beneficial to the province’s economy and employment.

Further highlighting the ambitious energy projects in the region, CEO of STDC, Muhammad Salim Shaikh, referenced additional partnerships and developments, including Pakistan’s first 500 MW floating solar power project and a new 132 KV transmission line in the Jhampir Wind Corridor. These projects underscore the government’s commitment to expanding sustainable power infrastructure and reducing the energy tariff for the public through the integration of renewable resources.

The ongoing and upcoming initiatives are part of a broader strategy to achieve Sindh’s economic goals under the leadership of Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and to support Pakistan’s Sustainable Development Goals for a clean and sustainable environment.
