Islamabad: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan convened in Islamabad under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to deliberate on important matters concerning the judiciary in Sindh, Islamabad, and Peshawar. The meeting, which took place at the Supreme Court Building from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., culminated in several significant recommendations regarding the confirmation, appointment, and extension of terms for various judicial positions.

According to Press Information Department, the commission proposed extending the tenure of Mr. Justice Khalid Hussain Shahani as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Sindh for six months, while Mr. Justice Syed Fiaz ul Hassan Shah was not confirmed. The commission also suggested a three-month extension for the Constitutional Benches of the High Court of Sindh. Furthermore, it recommended the appointment of three individuals—Muhammad Humayon Khan, Suresh Kumar, and Dr. Shah Nawaz Memon—as Additional Judges of the High Court of Sindh, with two positions remaining unfilled due to a lack of majority support.

In the Islamabad High Court, the commission endorsed the appointment of Ayyaz Shaukat, Shahrukh Arjumand, and Umair Majeed Malik as Additional Judges. Meanwhile, for the Peshawar High Court, the commission confirmed four Additional Judges—Justice Ms. Farah Jamshed, Mr. Justice Inaam Ullah Khan, Mr. Justice Sabit Ullah Khan, and Mr. Justice Aurangzeb—as permanent judges, following thorough evaluation and consideration of their qualifications and performance.
