Islamabad: The Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Maen Khreasat, met with Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, to discuss cultural cooperation between the two nations. The meeting, held at the minister’s office, included an invitation for Pakistan to participate in the upcoming 40th Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts.

According to Press Information Department, the Ambassador extended the invitation on behalf of Jordan’s Ministry of Culture for the festival scheduled from July 22 to August 2, 2026, in Jerash. Minister Khichi accepted the invitation, emphasizing Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing cultural diplomacy and international cultural engagement.

The meeting also covered existing cultural agreements, with plans for cultural troupes to be exchanged between the countries, promoting people-to-people interactions. The Ambassador praised Pakistan’s cultural heritage and performing arts, including traditional dances and Qawwali, which will feature in Pakistan’s contribution to the festival.

Attending the meeting, Asad Rehman Gillani, Secretary of the Ministry, informed the Ambassador about Pakistan’s Gandhara Heritage Gallery and an ongoing exhibition. The Ambassador expressed interest in these cultural initiatives and the newly inaugurated Gandhara Centre at Quaid-i-Azam University.

The discussions concluded with a mutual commitment to advancing cultural diplomacy and exchanges, strengthening the relationship between Pakistan and Jordan.
