ISLAMABAD: A new exhibition titled “Japan in Art,” launched at the National Art Gallery by the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) and the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA) Islamabad, is celebrating the cultural ties between Japan and Pakistan.

According to the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, the exhibition was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, alongside Mr. Ayoub Jamali, Director General of PNCA, and Mr. Jamal Shah, President of PJCA Islamabad. The event attracted a wide range of attendees, including young artists, art enthusiasts, and dignitaries.

“Japan in Art” showcases approximately 40 works by emerging Pakistani artists who creatively reinterpret Japanese socio-cultural life. The exhibition features a variety of artistic techniques, including brushstrokes, colored pencils, and woodblock printing, offering a unique blend of imagination and cultural insight.

During the inauguration, Ambassador Akamatsu praised the skill and creativity of the young Pakistani artists and emphasized the exhibition’s role in representing the enduring friendship between Japan and Pakistan. Additionally, Mr. Jamal Shah received the prestigious Ambassador’s Commendation for 2026 for his significant contributions to strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.

Ambassador Akamatsu highlighted Mr. Shah’s leadership and his past contributions to cultural events, expressing hope that he will continue to play a vital role in promoting Japanese culture and enhancing bilateral relationships.
