ISLAMABAD: Muhammad Sarfraz Virk has officially taken on the role of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) in Islamabad, marking a new chapter for the city’s traffic management. Upon assuming his position, CTO Virk convened a meeting with traffic police officers, outlining his vision for improving traffic services in the capital.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, CTO Virk emphasized that the primary goal of the Islamabad Traffic Police is to enhance traffic facilities for citizens. He urged officers to maintain a positive attitude towards the public and to focus on educating citizens about traffic laws alongside enforcing them. Virk highlighted the need for additional personnel in areas under development and on major highways like the Express and Srinagar Highways to better serve the public.

CTO Virk also announced the reactivation of the Special Traffic Response Unit and called for a re-audit of police facilitation centers. He stressed the importance of keeping police facilitation vans on the roads to assist citizens and ensuring traffic officers are present in markets to alleviate parking issues and maintain smooth traffic flow during peak hours.

A key part of his strategy involves maximizing public awareness of traffic laws and information via the Traffic Education Team, FM radio, and social media platforms. Later in the day, CTO Virk visited markets across the federal capital, meeting with traffic police officers to assess traffic arrangements and reiterated the importance of efficient traffic management in congested areas, reaffirming that public service remains the top priority for the Islamabad Traffic Police.
