Islamabad, DIG Operations Syed Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari has called upon the residents of Islamabad to collaborate with the police to ensure the protection of lives, property, and dignity, outlining measures for citizens to report any misconduct by law enforcement officers. This appeal emphasizes the police’s commitment to public safety and the integrity of its operations within the capital city.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, DIG Bukhari emphasized that the primary goal of the Islamabad Capital Police is to safeguard the citizens’ well-being. He provided a direct line of communication, urging citizens to report any instances of police harassment, including unwarranted demands for marriage certificates, unnecessary vehicle document checks, or any behavior not related to crime prevention, to his personal contact number. This initiative aims to foster a trust-based relationship between the police force and the community.
DIG Bukhari stressed the importance of cooperation when approached by police officers, highlighting that such interactions are meant for the citizens’ safety. He reassured the public that senior officers are always available to address grievances, advocating for respectful and cooperative exchanges between police personnel and citizens.
Moreover, Bukhari clarified the police’s authority to conduct stops and searches as a safety measure, not as a dignity violation. He encouraged citizens to demonstrate their lawfulness during such checks. Furthermore, he assured that complaints against police misconduct, including bribery, would be treated confidentially and could lead to strict departmental actions against those found guilty of corruption within the force.
This message from the DIG Operations represents a proactive step by the Islamabad Capital Police to enhance public safety, transparency, and accountability within its ranks, signaling a move towards more responsive and community-oriented policing.
