Islamabad Police Detain 32 During Security Sweep in Federal Capital

Islamabad: In a significant security operation, Islamabad Police detained 32 individuals and impounded four unregistered vehicles during a search operation in the jurisdiction of the Sabzi Mandi and Khanna police stations. The operation, conducted under the supervision of SP Soan zone, was part of a broader initiative to enhance security across the federal capital, the Islamabad Capital Police reported.

According to Islamabad Capital Police announcement issued on 24 September 2024, the operation involved checks on 105 suspicious persons and 55 houses and shops. The detainees and the unregistered vehicles were taken to the police station for further legal proceedings. This move comes as part of a concerted effort by local authorities to clamp down on crime and ensure public safety in the area.

DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza emphasized the importance of these operations, stating that they are essential for maintaining security and order in Islamabad. He also mentioned that all zonal officers have been instructed to continue these search and combing operations in their respective areas.

The police have appealed to the citizens to cooperate during such operations and urged them to report any suspicious activities or information through the emergency helpline “Pucar-15” or the “ICT-15” app. The app and helpline are part of the police’s strategy to facilitate community participation in law enforcement and ensure swift action in response to any threats.
