Islamabad, In a significant operation aimed at curbing crime, Islamabad Capital Police have arrested 28 individuals, including 15 professional beggars, across various parts of the city over the last 24 hours. The arrests led to the seizure of stolen motorbikes, narcotics, and firearms, as part of a concerted effort to enhance safety and security in the capital, announced by a public relations officer.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operation was conducted under the specific directives of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, marking a ramp-up in actions against criminal activities. Among the notable arrests were Usman Tariq and Ejaz Masih, caught with 30 liters of liquor, and Noman Nasir, who was found in possession of a 30 bore pistol. Additionally, significant quantities of heroin and hashish were recovered from other suspects, underscoring the operation’s focus on drug-related crimes.
The police have initiated legal proceedings against those apprehended, with cases registered and further investigations set to follow. The operation also targeted professional begging, leading to multiple arrests under the beggars act, reflecting the police’s commitment to address all forms of unlawful activities.
The senior police officials have instructed for an intensified continuation of the crackdown against criminals, emphasizing the importance of public safety and declaring zero tolerance for any compromise on security measures.
