International Day of Persons with Disabilities: A Call for Inclusion and Action

Islamabad, 03 Dec 2023: Today marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a global observance celebrated both in Pakistan and around the world. This day is dedicated to promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in every sphere of society and development.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the theme for this year’s observance is “United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with, and by persons with disabilities.” This theme underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in ensuring that persons with disabilities are integral to achieving the SDGs.

The United Nations estimates that there are approximately one billion people living with disabilities globally. These individuals often face significant barriers to inclusion in many key aspects of society. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities serves as a reminder of the urgent need to dismantle these barriers and foster a more inclusive world where everyone has the opportunity to participate fully in societal development.
