Inter-Parliamentary Union Celebrates 150th Anniversary in Tashkent


Tashkent: A five-day assembly marking the 150th anniversary of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) commenced in Tashkent on Saturday, drawing international delegates to discuss collaborative legislative efforts.



A key participant in the assembly is a Pakistani parliamentary delegation led by Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, the Chairman of the Senate. The delegation aims to engage with counterparts from various nations to bolster parliamentary cooperation.



In a preceding meeting, Chairman Gilani held discussions with Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan. The talks focused on enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation and strengthening the legal framework underpinning bilateral relations.



Both leaders expressed a commitment to advancing strategic partnerships and noted the ongoing development of friendly relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.



The assembly provides a platform for participating countries to explore mutually beneficial collaborations and fortify legislative alliances.
