Lahore: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has reported a normal flow in most of the province’s rivers, with the Indus River experiencing low-level flooding at Kalabagh and Chashma. The current water flow at Kalabagh is recorded at 302,000 cusecs, while at Chashma, it stands at 276,000 cusecs.

According to PDMA Punjab, a moderate flood has been observed in Nala Palkho at Wazirabad with a water flow of 2,600 cusecs, and low flooding persists in Nala Basantar in the Narowal district with a flow of 1,700 cusecs. The fourth series of monsoon rains is expected to continue until August 5, potentially increasing water flow in the eastern rivers and their adjacent areas.

DG PDMA Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa has highlighted the possibility of urban flooding in major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, and warned of landslide risks in Murree and other hilly regions. Citizens residing near river basins have been advised to relocate to safer locations. The Punjab government has established flood relief camps to offer essential support such as shelter, food, and medical facilities to those affected by the floods. The DG PDMA has urged people to remain cautious, limit non-essential travel, and ensure children’s safety by keeping them away from water bodies.
