Srinagar: In a grim tally for September, Indian security forces are reported to have killed 17 individuals, including a young boy, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the casualties include 14 Kashmiris allegedly killed in extrajudicial actions and staged encounters. The report details a broader pattern of aggressive operations by Indian troops, including extensive cordon and search operations that resulted in at least one house being severely damaged.
The month also saw the arrest of at least 196 civilians and political activists, with many detained under stringent legislations such as the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), laws that have been widely criticized for their potential for abuse and for facilitating human rights violations.
