New York: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has labeled India as the world’s largest Islamophobic state, alleging widespread discrimination against its minority communities, particularly Muslims and Christians. His remarks came during a session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) focusing on combating Islamophobia.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahmad made these statements while addressing the closing session of a high-level event commemorating the International Day to Combat Islamophobia. He cited the 17th OIC Report on Islamophobia, which attributes the highest number of documented Islamophobic incidents globally to India. He highlighted specific instances, such as recent restrictions on Friday prayers in Srinagar during Ramadan, mob violence against Muslims, and the demolition of historic mosques, as evidence of ongoing discrimination.

Ahmad emphasized that dialogue, mutual understanding, tolerance, compassion, solidarity, and international cooperation should continue to guide efforts and global partnerships to address what he termed a global menace.
