Islamabad: The Tine Girls Model Primary School in Tarnol, Islamabad, was inaugurated by Akamatsu Shuichi, the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, marking the completion of a project aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for girls. The initiative, spearheaded by Community Services Programme (CSP), a non-governmental organization, received financial support from the Government of Japan under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Program.

According to Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, the project involved a grant of 44,025 USD and was celebrated with an inauguration ceremony attended by embassy officials, CSP representatives, educators, students, parents, and community members. CSP has constructed a facility comprising eight classrooms, a principal’s office, and washrooms, alongside a leveled playground and 250 student chairs. Additional resources from CSP facilitated the installation of a solar power system, an underground water storage tank with an electric water cooler, and an interactive Smart Board for digital learning.

The school addresses the pressing need for quality education access for girls in Tarnol, providing a secure and modern environment for 240 enrolled students, with a capacity for 250. During the ceremony, Ambassador Akamatsu praised CSP’s efforts in overcoming challenging weather conditions to complete the project. He highlighted the significance of education as a fundamental human right and a crucial element of human security, emphasizing that girls’ education is essential for Pakistan’s future. The ambassador reiterated Japan’s dedication to supporting Pakistan’s sustainable development and expressed hope that the school would symbolize the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
