Karachi: The greatest success of the police is gaining the trust of the people, while the use of technology is not only indispensable for policing but also the need of the hour. IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon conveyed this message during a meeting with an 18-member delegation comprising the 27th Command Course of ASPs under the 51st Special Training Program at the Central Police Office in Karachi.
According to Sindh Police, the meeting featured a detailed briefing by the DIG headquarters on the law and order situation in Sindh and police measures in this context. The briefing also covered employee welfare initiatives. Questions and suggestions were presented by the under-training police officers.
IG Sindh highlighted that the Sindh government has accepted all recommendations regarding the use of technology for modern and effective policing, including measures for police employee welfare, and has ensured budget allocation for various projects. He emphasized that the trust of the government and the public significantly strengthens the policing process. Despite criticism, the Sindh Police remains committed to its objectives, focusing on crime prevention and the protection of lives and property.
The Sindh Police is prioritizing the use of technology in its operations and investigations. Applications such as search app, EVM, CRO, PSRMS, and S4 provide data on millions of individuals, while online services for driving licenses, police verification, and special branch verification have been introduced for public convenience.
The IG informed the delegation that 4,000 e-tagging devices are being procured to monitor criminals, with plans to acquire additional devices to maintain law and order. Comprehensive proposals for advanced equipment, including drones, anti-drones, night vision cameras, and robotic scanners, are being prepared for the Defense Exhibition 2024.
IG Sindh stressed the importance of police officers keeping their offices accessible to the public for service, guidance, and problem-solving. Officers with strong reputations can withstand criticism and uphold truth in challenging situations.
The sub-training officers noted that the Sindh Police’s efforts toward modern and community-focused policing serve as a guiding light for them. Additional IGs, Welfare and Works, Operations, DIGs, and AIGs attended the meeting.
