Rawalpindi: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, conducted a visit to Safe City Rawalpindi, where he reviewed the command-and-control room’s operations. Accompanying him were RPO Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa, CPO Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani, SSP Operations, SSP IC III, and other officers.
During the visit, the RPO and CPO of Rawalpindi provided a briefing on the Safe City’s current operations. IG Punjab emphasized the importance of completing the remaining civil work and planning and decoration tasks associated with the Safe City project. He urged the effective use of artificial intelligence facilities for tracking criminals and enhancing investigation processes.
The Safe City initiative is also contributing to traffic management, environmental protection surveillance, and the prevention of encroachments. Dr. Anwar noted that these projects are becoming a model for community policing and offer valuable services to citizens.
The IG highlighted the need for improved coordination with Safe City Islamabad, given the proximity of the twin cities. He also stressed enhancing collaboration with other law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order. The expansion of Safe City projects is planned to reach all districts and tehsils in Punjab, indicating a broader commitment to public safety and security.
