Lahore: In a landmark initiative, the Punjab Police, under the leadership of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, has launched an extensive scholarship program for the children of police employees pursuing higher education. This program has recently disbursed a record sum exceeding 114 million rupees, supporting students enrolled in medical and business degree programs.
According to Punjab Police, this significant educational investment distributed 96.3 million rupees among 277 medical students for their MBBS and BDS programs, while another 18 million rupees were allocated to 220 business studies students. These scholarships are part of a broader, education-friendly vision articulated by IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, aimed at fostering educational opportunities for the families of police personnel.
Dr. Anwar has committed to sustaining and possibly expanding the scholarship offerings, asserting that the education of police employees’ children remains a top priority. Furthermore, the Punjab Police has entered into several Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with various educational institutions to facilitate these efforts, including fee concessions and provisions for foreign scholarships for exceptionally talented students, along with comprehensive career guidance.
