IFC Proposes Strategic Solutions to Enhance Pakistan Railways

Islamabad: In a decisive move to rejuvenate Pakistan Railways, Minister of State for Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to modernizing the national rail network. During discussions with a delegation from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), led by Global Director Linda Rudo Munyengeterwa, the minister underscored the significant role the railways could play in fostering economic growth and enhancing regional connectivity.

Kayani highlighted the necessity of international collaboration to harness the expertise and investment needed to transform the railway sector. He emphasized creating an environment conducive to both private and public sector contributions to develop a rail system that serves the collective interest.

Munyengeterwa echoed the minister’s sentiments, stressing the potential of a robust railway infrastructure in shaping Pakistan’s economic trajectory. She confirmed IFC’s readiness to provide technical expertise, advisory services, and investment solutions to support the modernization efforts, thereby aligning with the government’s vision for an improved rail network.
