Hurriyat AJK leaders pay homage to Sheikh Abdul Aziz

Islamabad, August 10, 2021 (PPI-OT):Hurriyat AJK leaders have paid homage to the prominent Kashmiri leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, on the eve of his 13th martyrdom anniversary. Sheikh Abdul Aziz was shot dead by Indian troops while he was leading a march from Srinagar to the Line of Control on August 11, 2008 against the economic blockade of the Kashmir Valley by Hindu extremists of Jammu.

The Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, in a statement in Islamabad said that the economic blockade imposed by the RSS had created unusual circumstances for the Kashmiri people forcing Sheikh Abdul Aziz and other Hurriyat leaders to demand opening of the Srinagar-Rawalpindi road for trade and travel to save the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir from hunger and death.

He stated that the continued siege and search operations have worsened the situation in IIOJK following India’s illegal actions of repealing the special status of the occupied territory on 5 August 2019. He called upon the UN to take steps to resolve the Kashmir dispute in line with its relevant resolutions. He also demanded international probe into the killing of Sheikh Abdul Aziz. The killer must be identified and nabbed and handed over to the relevant UN agency to award them exemplary punishment, he added.
