High Commission Engages in Cultural Diplomacy at Canada’s Senate Event

Ottawa: The High Commission actively participated in a dedicated “Pakistan” event at the Senate of Canada, hosted by Hon. Senator Salma Attaullahjan on May 6, 2026, as part of Canada’s “Asian Heritage Month” celebrations. This event aimed to foster cultural exchange and strengthen bilateral relations between Canada and Pakistan.

According to Press Information Department, the gathering drew around 80 guests, including Senators, Members of the House of Commons, Canadian dignitaries, diplomatic representatives, members of the Pakistani community, and local media. The High Commission showcased Pakistan’s cultural heritage through promotional materials and a video clip that highlighted the country’s art, tourism, adventure sports, and cuisine.

High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem expressed his gratitude to Senator Attaullahjan for organizing the event at the Senate. He advocated for inter-parliamentary exchanges between Pakistan and Canada through their Parliamentary Friendship Groups, emphasizing the potential for enhanced economic, trade, investment, and tourism ties between the two countries.
