Srinagar: Intensified security measures remain in effect across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for the second day, coinciding with Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s three-day visit to the region.

Authorities have confirmed the establishment of a “multi-tiered security framework,” with additional deployments of Indian police, Army, and paramilitary forces at key entry and exit points throughout the territory.

During his visit, Shah made a trip to a Border Security Force post along the working border in Kathua district, arriving by helicopter from Jammu. The visit comes amid an ongoing search operation in Kathua’s forested areas, which has been active since March 23, following a gunfight on March 27 that resulted in the deaths of four policemen.

Shah is also scheduled to travel by road to Raj Bhawan, with routes from the airport to the destination being closely monitored. Security has been intensified, particularly in Srinagar, to ensure the visit proceeds without incident. Measures include additional checkpoints, drone monitoring, and the deployment of Quick Reaction Teams at strategic locations.

Officials report that several routes leading to strategic installations are under surveillance, with special police and paramilitary units conducting area domination exercises. Entry and exit points in Srinagar are under heightened frisking operations, supported by both human and electronic intelligence to detect any suspicious activities. Night patrols have been increased as part of the enhanced security measures.

Surprise checks, high-visibility patrols, and ongoing technical surveillance are expected to continue throughout the Home Minister’s visit, maintaining a high level of security vigilance.
