Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan successfully completed a scholarship test initiative in Sri Lanka as part of the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship program for Sri Lankan nationals. The initiative, which took place from July 28 to July 31, aimed to provide accessible higher education opportunities for Sri Lankan students.

According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the test drive was conducted at five major locations in Sri Lanka—Anuradhapura, Ampara, Kandy, Matara, and Colombo—as well as in Islamabad, Pakistan. The effort underscores the Pakistani government’s commitment to fostering regional academic cooperation.

Maj Gen (R) Dr. Nayyar Naseer, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, visited the University of Colombo’s test center to observe the arrangements and engage with participating candidates. The test centers saw significant turnout, with positive feedback from students and their families who commended the transparent and organized nature of the exams.

The scholarship program aims to promote merit and equal opportunities for all ethnic communities in Sri Lanka, allowing talented students to pursue higher education in Pakistan. The initiative reflects the dedication of the Government of Pakistan to strengthening academic ties within the region.
