Peshawar: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has concluded a comprehensive Quality Assurance Review of computing programs across public and private universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The initiative, carried out under the directives of the Prime Minister, aims to enhance the quality and relevance of higher education in Pakistan.

According to the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the review encompassed various institutions in the province, including the University of Technology, Nowshera; Northern University, Nowshera; Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan; and several others. The evaluation focused on assessing program-level practices against established quality assurance benchmarks to identify areas for improvement in computing education.

The review was conducted using eight quality standards, including curriculum design, faculty qualifications, and student support systems. Expert panels examined academic documentation, governance mechanisms, and institutional resources. The process involved interactions with university management, faculty, and students to gain a comprehensive understanding of program effectiveness.

The assessment highlighted significant efforts by the universities to align their programs with academic and industry requirements. Institutions showed a strong commitment to improving educational standards through ongoing reforms and capacity-building initiatives.

The findings from the review are designed to assist universities in enhancing their academic systems and quality assurance mechanisms. Recommendations focus on promoting continuous improvement, enhancing industry engagement, and supporting the sustained development of academic resources.
