ISLAMABAD: Heatwave conditions are expected to persist in the southern parts of Pakistan, including Sindh, south Punjab, and parts of Balochistan, until April 18, according to the National Weather Forecasting Centre. Meanwhile, a westerly weather system is anticipated to enter the upper regions of the country on the evening of April 16, bringing rain and thunderstorms until April 20.

The forecast predicts rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with occasional heavy falls, across various northern areas. Regions expected to be affected include Chitral, Dir, Swat, and several others in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. There is a possibility of isolated hailstorms during this period.

In the central areas, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, dust and thunderstorm rain is expected to occur on the evening of April 16 and again from April 18 to the morning of April 20. These conditions may also bring isolated hailstorms.

Southern Punjab cities like Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur are likely to experience dust storms and gusty winds on April 18 and 19. The weather conditions could potentially damage loose structures, prompting advice for farmers to adjust their crop management, particularly wheat harvesting, accordingly.

Residents in hilly areas are warned of possible landslides during this forecast period. The public is advised to stay hydrated and avoid direct sunlight exposure during peak daytime hours.
