Gwadar Port Sees Increase in Transshipment Activity with New Vessel Arrival


Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, announced on Monday that Gwadar Port has successfully berthed another transshipment vessel, underscoring the port’s growing role in regional maritime trade.



According to Press Information Department, the minister reported that the MV Yuan Hang Wei Ye arrived at Gwadar Port at 10:15 a.m. on May 11, carrying approximately 34,000 tonnes of cargo, which includes around 20,000 pieces. The vessel is involved in transshipment operations, with consignments intended for Abu Dhabi and Kuwait to be offloaded at the port.



Junaid Chaudhry described this development as a significant indicator of Gwadar’s increasing importance as a transshipment hub. He emphasized that the successful operations at the port highlight rising international trust in Gwadar’s capabilities and strategic location. The minister also reiterated the government’s dedication to enhancing port infrastructure and services to attract higher volumes of global shipping traffic.
