Gulzar all praise for Maqbool Butt, Afzal Guru on martyrdom anniversaries

Srinagar, February 07, 2023 (PPI-OT):Jammu and Kashmir Insaf Party Chairman and senior APHC leader Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar has said the Kashmiris living in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan and across the globe will renew their pledge on martyrdom anniversaries of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru to carry forward the mission of the martyrs to its logical conclusion, against all odds.

Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Kashmiri people are heavily indebted to the great sacrifices rendered by Muhammad Maqbool Butt, Muhammad Afzal Guru and thousands of other martyrs for their freedom cause. “Martyrs are our heroes and the best way to pay homage to them is to carry their mission to a logical conclusion,” he said. Gulzar said that these sacred souls preferred martyrdom but never bowed before the oppressor.

Muhammad Afzal Guru was hanged by the Indian government in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on February 9, 2013. Earlier, veteran leader Maqbool Butt was sent to the gallows in 1984 in the same jail. The bodies of both the leaders were buried in the jail premises. APHC leader said that Maqbool Butt was an icon of freedom and his services to the freedom cause would be written in golden words. He further said that supreme sacrifices of Kashmiris will not go waste and day is not far when these sacrifices bear fruit and Kashmiris will get freedom from Indian slavery.

Gulzar strongly condemned the ongoing eviction and demolition drive in IIOJK and said that India is following the Israeli footsteps in Kashmir. He said Hindutva regime is hell bent on uprooting Kashmiris and deprive them of their lands, culture, identity and resources. He appealed to the people of all regions to get united to defeat and foil the nefarious designs of Indian oppressors, exploiters and land grabbers. Insaf Party vice chairman and APHC-AJK leader Muhammad Sultan Butt and Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ahmad Ghazali also paid rich tributes to Afzal Guru and Maqbool Butt.
