Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Free and Responsible Media in Pakistan

Lahore: The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring a free, responsible, and vibrant media landscape in Pakistan. On World Press Freedom Day, Tarar highlighted the significance of media freedom as a cornerstone of public trust and democratic values in a post on the social media platform X.

According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar emphasized the historical role of traditional media in Pakistan, noting its contributions to maintaining balance and clarity, particularly during significant events like Marka-e-Haq. He acknowledged the ongoing evolution of media, with traditional outlets gradually embracing modern tools and digital platforms to enhance global connectivity and project Pakistan’s image and potential.

Tarar further affirmed the government’s appreciation for the efforts of journalists and media workers, underscoring a commitment to fostering media freedom and responsibility. He expressed optimism for a brighter future for all media in Pakistan, emphasizing the government’s support for the sector’s ongoing development.
