Karachi: In a meeting held at the Governor House Karachi, Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi emphasized the role of photojournalists in fostering constructive journalism and promoting a positive image of the country. He met with a delegation of photojournalists led by Athar Khan, a senior photojournalist and former President of the Pakistan Association of Press Photographers (PAPP).

According to Sindh Governor House, the delegation included former PAPP Presidents Syed Abbas Mehdi and Syed Hamid Hussain, along with Governing Body member Syed Imran Ali. Governor Hashmi highlighted the significance of photography as a powerful means of communication, noting that an image often conveys messages more effectively than words. He stressed the importance of introducing the younger generation to the art of photography, particularly in light of the rapid growth of social media, which has increased the significance and responsibilities of photojournalists.

Governor Hashmi encouraged the delegation to utilize their skills for projecting a positive national image and to foster constructive thinking in society. He advocated for journalism that is positive, dignified, and responsible, as opposed to criticism or content aimed solely at temporary entertainment.

The meeting also saw Syed Abbas Mehdi congratulating Governor Hashmi on his new role and presenting him with a bouquet. The delegation expressed gratitude for the Governor’s acknowledgment of their professional contributions and reiterated their commitment to maintaining professionalism in their work.
