Islamabad: The government has prioritized ensuring an uninterrupted fuel supply as its top agenda, following successful discussions between the Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and the Oil Tankers Contractors Association. The talks concluded with an agreement to address the contractors’ concerns through mutual consultation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting, held in Islamabad, saw Minister Malik and a delegation led by the association’s President, Abidullah Afridi, come to a consensus. A high-level committee, led by the Special Secretary for Petroleum, has been formed to tackle the issues, with a report expected within a week. The Minister also instructed the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to address contractors’ legitimate concerns promptly and directed oil marketing companies to present a written freight contract policy.

Additional directives included enhancing the tracking of oil tankers and segregating dealer-owned vehicles from primary transportation operations. The Oil Tanker Contractors Association commended the Minister’s constructive involvement and expressed optimism that their issues would be resolved through ongoing dialogue.
