ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of journalists and media workers during a meeting with a delegation from Suno News. The discussion, held in Islamabad, addressed issues such as employee terminations and financial challenges faced by TV channels, resulting in an agreement to halt further layoffs and salary cuts.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting also resulted in an agreement to reinstate lower-level staff, including drivers and technical personnel, who had been laid off. The management of Suno News assured the minister that outstanding dues for dismissed employees would be settled promptly. This move has led to the lifting of the suspension on Suno News’s advertisements.

The Information Minister highlighted the collaborative approach needed to address the financial and administrative challenges within media organizations, ensuring the protection of all staff members’ rights. Additionally, efforts will be made to provide alternative employment opportunities for other dismissed employees.
