Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb announced that the government is undertaking efforts to simplify tax procedures and aid retailers in meeting their tax responsibilities.
According to Radio Pakistan, Aurangzeb chaired a meeting in Islamabad to evaluate the progress on the Retailers’ Tax Scheme and to explore strategies to facilitate registration and broaden the tax base. The Minister highlighted that the scheme offers a streamlined process for retailers to join the formal tax system and contribute to the nation’s economic progress.
Aurangzeb underscored the scheme’s long-term goal, stating that it should not be perceived as merely a temporary initiative extending to 2026. Instead, the Retailers’ Tax Scheme is designed to offer a simplified pathway for small retailers to enter and remain within the formal tax system in the coming years.
