Government Accuses PTI of Sabotaging Talks Amid Efforts for Reconciliation

Islamabad: The Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of deliberately undermining negotiation efforts, despite the government’s commitment to resolving political issues through dialogue. Speaking at a press conference with Prime Minister’s Coordinator Ikhtiar Wali Khan, Chaudhry emphasized the government’s dedication to maintaining open lines of communication to achieve reconciliation.

According to Press Information Department, Chaudhry stated that the government engaged PTI with sincerity, aiming to settle differences amicably. However, he criticized PTI for lacking leadership in the discussions, while asserting that the government demonstrated seriousness in advancing the negotiation process. The government, he said, is prepared to work collaboratively with all political factions to address political differences through democratic means.

Chaudhry expressed concern that some elements are attempting to mislead the public and foster division. He affirmed the government’s readiness to continue consultations in the national interest to enhance political stability and uphold democratic values. He also raised concerns about PTI’s governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past 15 years, citing unresolved public issues, corruption, and a lack of administrative improvements.

Chaudhry highlighted over 2,000 terrorism incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the loss of more than 72 personnel. He underscored the sacrifices made by law enforcement and the public in combating terrorism, calling for united national efforts to ensure peace and stability. Despite political differences, Chaudhry reiterated the government’s commitment to dialogue and consultation in addressing the country’s challenges.
