Islamabad: Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has called for a deepening of the Pakistan-China partnership, emphasizing the need for increased cooperation in trade, technology, clean energy, and parliamentary exchanges. Speaking at a seminar in Islamabad organized by the Pakistan-China Economic and Cultural Council to mark the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Gilani reaffirmed the enduring friendship between the two nations.
According to Radio Pakistan, the seminar gathered senior Pakistani political figures, parliamentarians, diplomats, policy experts, and representatives from the Chinese Embassy. The event highlighted the global significance of President Xi Jinping’s ‘Thought on Party Building’ and celebrated the enduring partnership between Pakistan and China. Gilani praised China’s development under the leadership of the Communist Party, noting its role in economic transformation and poverty alleviation.
Gilani also emphasized the importance of President Xi Jinping’s principles, such as self-reform and internal accountability, and how these could offer insights for political parties, particularly in the global South. He described the Pakistan-China relationship as an “Iron Brotherhood” based on mutual trust and strategic cooperation, paying tribute to the foundational visionaries of the bilateral relationship.
The Acting President highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as a key driver of regional connectivity and economic growth and acknowledged China’s support during natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic. The seminar included addresses from other prominent figures, such as Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, and featured presentations on the history and development of the Communist Party of China.
