Islamabad: The Ministry of Human Rights, in collaboration with its Transgender Protection Centre and the Forum for Dignity Initiatives, organized a Gender Sensitization Workshop at the National Police Academy. This event brought together police officers from Islamabad and Punjab with the objective of enhancing their understanding of the transgender community and promoting respect and inclusivity.
According to Ministry of Human Rights, the workshop provided a platform for law enforcement officers to learn about the challenges faced by transgender individuals and the importance of protecting their rights. The training session aimed to foster a more inclusive police culture where officers can contribute positively to the safety and dignity of all citizens, regardless of gender identity.
The workshop was attended by Ms. Saba Sadiq, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights, who served as the chief guest. She emphasized the critical role that police officers play in enforcing laws and ensuring the safety of the transgender community. Ms. Sadiq called for empathy, compassion, and a committed enforcement of laws designed to protect transgender people. She also urged the officers to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop in their daily duties and to prioritize inclusivity and human dignity in their roles.
This initiative is part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Human Rights to educate and sensitize law enforcement agencies about gender issues, aiming to create a more equitable society.
