Singapore: Four men of Indian origin have been charged with causing public nuisance and using abusive language toward a police officer in Singapore’s Little India neighborhood. The incident, which occurred at a crime scene, has sparked considerable attention online after being captured in a widely viewed video.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the altercation took place on Wednesday in the vibrant district known for its cultural significance to the Indian community. The police were investigating an alleged murder that had occurred on Sunday morning when the incident with the four individuals transpired.
A video lasting two minutes, which shows the men verbally abusing the officer, was posted on the Facebook page ROADS.sg and reported by Channel News Asia. The individuals identified in the court documents are Md Dino Marciano Abdul Wahab, 44; Alex Kumar Gnansekaran, 37; Mohamed Eusof Mohamed Yahiya, 32; and Mohanan V Balakrishnan, 32. The footage has garnered over 423,000 views in just three days, highlighting the severity of the confrontation.
The court documents reveal that the accused used several provocative phrases during the incident. These included statements like “You talked like a gangster, you know, we all scared, you know”, “We are paying tax, we are paying our **ing tax”, and “I can show you 100 per cent gangster”, showcasing the intensity of the exchange.
The case has brought to light issues related to public behavior and respect for law enforcement officials, as the community and authorities deal with the repercussions of the event.
