LAHORE: A fire broke out in the Gynaecology Ward of Lahore’s General Hospital on Friday morning, but was swiftly brought under control by hospital staff. No injuries were reported among patients, attendants, or medical personnel. The incident prompted a rapid response that underscored newly implemented fire alert arrangements across government hospitals in Punjab.
According to Directorate General Public Relations – Govt of Punjab, Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari emphasized the effectiveness of the measures ordered by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. Bokhari stated that the Chief Minister’s directives were promptly executed, citing the incident as proof of the efficient emergency protocols now in place. In addition to these efforts, Maryam Nawaz is personally overseeing the response to ongoing rain conditions in Rawalpindi, where rescue operations are actively underway. The local administration, along with agencies such as WASA, Para Force, and others, are mobilized to ensure the rapid clearance of rainwater, with expectations to resolve the situation within the coming hours.
