Islamabad, October 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin has dismissed the reports about failure of talks with International Monetary Fund (IMF) for resumption of six billion dollars Extended Fund Facility. Talking to reporters after addressing members of Pakistani community in New York, he said the talks are continuing and expressed the confidence that these would be successful.
He said Finance Secretary Yusuf Khan is still in Washington pursuing the talks with relevant IMF officials, and that he is in contact with the FBR Chairman as well as with him for any advice. Shaukat Tarin said there is an atmosphere of positivity and the next few days would show a productive outcome from the talks.
He said his meetings with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and other fund officials were also very useful and positive. The Finance Minister said the government is working hard for an inclusive and sustainable economic growth that benefits all segments of the society, especially the poor.
